Is Bollywood finally changing?

For years Bollywood has banked on major actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan regardless to churn out hits.

Is this trend seeing a change? From the results of the Star Screen Awards 2017, it seems that lady luck has smiled upon the  newer entrants of Bollywood who managed to sweep through major trophies leaving fans happy.

It was indeed a special moment to celebrate for all the fans who have believed in these actors and wanted to see them being appreciated for the incredible work they have been silently doing for the past few years. Bollywood has been under the radar for rigging and being biased for a long time now.

Rajkummar Rao, Irrfan Khan’s win proves Bollywood is finally appreciating talent. Also, while films like Tumhari Sulu and Bareilly Ki Barfi won accolades and bagged a lot of nominations and honours, Dangal remained the highest winner.

Rajkummar even won award for Best Supporting Actor for Bareilly Ki Barfi. He shared his happiness on Twitter and wrote,

His director Ashiwini Iyer Tiwari also wrote, 

Raj Kumar Rao also won the prestigious Indian of the Year 2017 award and the Best Actor of the Year 2017 award in Asia Pacific Screen Awards for the role of “Newton”. 

2017 has certainly smiled upon Rajkummar Rao.

When the actor was asked how he feels knowing that 2017 has been his year, and that most of his films were hits, he thanked his audience for appreciating his work and sincerity.

“Oh man! I really enjoyed, I am glad I got to be a part of some really wonderful films. I hope it continues in 2018 as well, I hope you guys say that 2018 is my year as well. It was like a sixer, Bose was my last hit, as I said, I am happy with the fact that most of my films did well, and people liked my efforts and my sincerity.”
